Soapin’ Ain’t Easy

Jessica Newport

This year Newport’s Naturals is in at least THREE different Farmers’ Markets!  Holy cat!  As Newport’s Naturals grows and expands, I’m looking to grow and expand my product line too.  Next month I’ll be joining some of my fellow Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetics Guild members at a huge conference where I plan to learn how to make some new products to offer at markets and online.

My first market of this year was the Moncks Corner Farmers’ Market.  Located in the Market Pavilion right on Main Street, this is my hometown market and I’ve been a vendor here since 2015.  Every Thursday from 3 to 7, I get an amazing opportunity to connect with my neighbors and even some visitors from out of town.

Second market this year was the Summerville Farmers’ Market located in the heart of Downtown Summerville on Main Street.  It was a long road to get accepted into this market, think Samantha in Sixteen Candles.  Alas, just as Samantha got to make out with Jake in the end of the movie, I finally gained a spot in the Summerville Farmers’ Market last year.  Woot woot.  I’m back this year as a fill in, so you can find Newport’s Naturals there on first and third Saturdays from 8 to 1.

My newest market is the Carnes Crossroads Farmers' Market.  Held every Wednesday from 4 to 7 May through August at the Green Barn, this will be my first year here!  I’m super excited to meet the other vendors and see what everyone has to offer.  Unfortunately, I’ll miss out on opening day because I’ll be at the HSCG Conference, but please stop by and see me on May 9th.

At each market I am not the only Soapmaker.  That means there is a thriving community of soapers looking to create and sell products that are so much better than the grocery store varieties.  If you haven’t tried handcrafted soap yet, please give it a try.  You will be so glad you did.  Stay tuned to find out where else Newport’s Naturals may pop up and to find out about our new products.

  • I love your dog soap. It makes my fur feel so soft and smell so good even after I’ve been soaking in the hot sun on the patio.
